McElroy Associates carry out work in the Design, Project Management and Construction Supervision of building projects for international and Irish clients.  We operate primarily in the industrial sector across a range of pharmaceutical, healthcare, process and food industry companies. 

McElroy Associates was founded in 1991 and since then we have focused on developing strong working relationships with our clients which we believe forms our core ability to successfully deliver projects.

Our experience covers a wide range of projects in new and existing facilities and we offer a comprehensive range of services in Civil, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Project Management and Quantity Surveying.

Meet the MEA Management Team

Managing Directors

Ray Curran is the Managing Director of the Mechanical, Electrical and Process Engineering Group. Ray is a Chartered Engineer with significant experience across the Industrial, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Food and Medical Devices sectors and has been with McElroy Associates since 2015. 

His primary role is the management of the Mechanical/Process design function,including quality control and the continued professional development of the staff.

Minka McInerney is the Managing Director for the Civil, Structural and Architectural Group. Minka is a Chartered Architect and has been with McElroy Associates since 2012. Her experience includes industrial, pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Food and Medical Devices projects. 

Minka’s primary role is is assisting Clients to scope out their projects clearly as well navigate specific compliance and regulatory requirements so that projects may be executed in an efficient, safe manner.

Architecture and Compliance

David Byrne is a Director of the Projects Group. David also heads the Fire Engineering and Building Regulations Compliance section. David has over 20 years’ experience and has been with McElroy Associates since 2010. His experience includes pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Food and Medical Devices projects. 

David’s primary role is ensuring that projects are properly resourced, Design Team Management and the delivery of projects efficiently in line with the Clients requirements. He is one of the Safety Officers for McElroy Associates.

Mechanical and Electrical Group

Brian Horan is Director of the Mechanical, Electrical and Process Engineering Group. Brian is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and has been with McElroy Associates since 2015. He has significant experience across the Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Food, Medical Devices & Commercial sectors. 

Brian’s primary role is Project Management and the management of the MEP design function on projects.

Civil / Structural Engineering

Peter Hawkins is Director of the Civil/Structural Engineering Group. Peter is a Chartered Engineer, qualified Project Manager and Cosntruction Law and Contract Administration. He has been with McElroy Associates since 2005 His experience includes Commercial, Advanced Manufacturing, Energy, Industrial, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Health and Life Sciences.

Peter’s primary role is ensuring that the Civil/Structural Engineering aspects of the projects are competitively designed, specified and produced in line with the Clients requirements.

Digital & Facilities Management

Niall Kelly is the Digital and Production Director for McElroy Associates. He has been with McElroy Associates since 2011. He has significant multidisciplinary experience across the Pharmaceutical, Biopharma, Light and Heavy Industry and Manufacturing, Food and Medical Devices sectors etc. 

Niall’s primary role is ensuring that projects are adequately resourced, efficiently produced and are delivered efficiently in line with the Clients requirements. Niall also works with clients on data alignment strategies and implementation. Through BIM methodologies and utilities, he ensures maximal return of information to the clients for leverage in Facility Management and Operational procedures
